Self Service….Fall/Winter 2014

I was intrigued to pick up the new copy of Self Service after noticing the issue featured an interview with Steven Meisel as well as Ms. Miuccia (which of course is always a treat). There are alluring points in both interviews, but I think what was really enjoyable was hearing both Meisel and Prada talk about the inner confidence of a woman and how that inspires them.

Miuccia comments on how striking that inner strength is when it’s seen. “But you recognize immediately when you see a girl or a woman that is confident. You see because she has style – there is a harmony and you immediately read it.”

Meisel touches on the same concept of being able to read inner confidence, and how that manifests into a style all ones own.

“In terms of beauty, you couldn’t consider Chanel or Vreeland classically beautiful, in a classic, pretty way – they were a million times more than that and that’s because of what’s inside – the personality and the creativeness. They created these personas and that’s what I love, too.”

It’s nice to hear both industry legends speak to the personality of a woman being just as — if not more – important than the clothes she chooses to wear.
