Beach Cottage Flower Love

Good moaning from Sydney and some pretty flowers in this old cottage! If you were one of the lucky receivers ;) of my newsletter last week and recipient of information on where to get soft cargo pants that do not make one’s derriere look like a puffed up flesh coloured balloon and at the same time hold muffin-top flattening powers, you will also know that this week I am getting to play around with flowers in Beach Cottage Land. Pretty much a dream job I reckon.

I’m busy doing a juggling act of flowers and mum duties but I thought I would show you a few so far…dahlias, I love them, easy, last quite well, and pack a really good bang for your buck .

I love a relaxed approach to flowers, who needs any stress? Uncomplicated, and inexpensive a bunch of flowers brightens my life time and again.

Dahlias also are pretty good at multi-taking, I normally will start them in a tall glass vase, like this old mason jar, with their enormous heavy blooms they don’t need much other than being stripped of their leaves and bunched together, nothing else.

As they approach old age, I snip them down to a much shorter length, give them a spruce up and a change of water and repurpose them in little vases and smaller jam jars, either a single stem or a little gathering of their big flouncy heads together :)

A little vignette of flowers, whether a bunch bought on the school run or way home from work, or picked and brought in from the garden add magic to a room or a tatty old cottage on the beaches ;-)

I’ll be back soon with more blooms…

Cheers ears

Sarah
