Home again Home again

Helloooo! Man it’s good to be home…the journey was a killer, no I was not in First Class, and in terms of a nightmare journey or good journey in the overall scheme of things, I had a good one…got on, watched two films, had a couple of drinks, slept for eight hours and woke up with only 3 hours to go (how superb is it on a 14 1/2 hour flight to wake up after 8 hours and see you only have 3 left to go, boy oh boy oh boyo that feels soooooo good) ..so mostly the whole flight felt fine….though I woke up with a numb derriere, I guess that happens after eight hours asleep on the thing…

…filled in the rest of the time watching documentaries from the BBC including one on Mrs Thatcher which was really really good (I do love a good documentary and I must get the book) and one on how to really look younger according to science which was hosted by a plastic surgeon …that passed the time anyway…I didn’t learn anything though, haha
…then spent way way way too long waiting for our bags to come off surrounded by people getting stressed over the appearance or lack thereof of their bags, ditto the line for Quarantine (not that I am complaining, am proud of how proud and determined this lovely country is to keep itself special and not let scary strange slimy pests into our lovely land)…

…then sat in the traffic on the way home in the middle of the rush hour through the city, caught sight of my no-make up, creased and almost dead looking face in the wing mirror and decided I should have paid way more attention to the plastic surgeon and her findings…

I love getting home from holiday, it’s such a nice feeling isn’t it? We had planned what we wanted to eat for dinner on the plane and I had decided to keep myself awake all day to combat the jet lag (Mr Beach Cottage climbed into bed and had a nap)…so it’s been a slow ease in to getting home – six thousand and ninety five loads of laundry, trying to successfully stash a rug and quilt into the back of the wardrobe, and counting down the hours to putting on the fire (Winter in Sydney still and chilly), plopping on the sofa with Barley and trying to keep my eyes open until it’s Sydney time to go to bed rather than California time…

…garden though is a mess, I’m pretty sad about that, we’ve obviously had some wind here and I heard not much rain, which means a lot of things have died :((( yes most organised people remember to ask their neighbours or friends to pop over and water their plants…I did not do that ….thought about the mess in the garden quite a bit, kinda at odds with the whole holiday fantasy of getting back to a sub-tropical oasis, stood on the drive musing the grass needing cutting and the weeding and sorta sighed a little, debated the sweeping and decided, that actually, the post holiday yard work is indeed very good for the contours of one’s holiday upper arms.. …went out there and gathered a few bits…it’s nice to come home to flowers, a clean house and my things… see you soon Sarah
