Badinage

Start At The Very Beginning

Well do I have treat for you; a slew of sub standard iPhone pics are coming your way - you're welcome, most of you already know that photography is outwith the grasp of my limited skill set.
I've just had the best week of my life and it was only fitting that it kicked off in the best city in the world, London. I met fellow cybernauts, Naomi, Si Je Veux & Alexandra, as usual I yakked too much and forgot to take pics.
Wanting to stay within the curvaceously elegant embrace of Art Deco, I booked in at the Beaumont which I posted about a few weeks back, I'm never snobby about simulacra if they are done well. I ended up having dinner in the company of family and Oscar winners which was a bit of a 'pinch me' moment, especially when my nephew dredged up past family history, namely the long forgotten tale of my mother taking an axe to our old Steinway, a story for another post but "and still half a piano to go" was the quote of the evening. I won't deny that the a breathy rendition of the word 'psycho' soon swathed the table.

The hotel sits just across from Queen Victoria's elephant house - I don't think she walked them every night.

It felt as if it had a history despite the fact that it's brand new, Corbin and King are masters of ambiance and the sweet myths of invented biography.

This Deco dial reminded me of Superman films.

Ooh, it really is the simplest attention to detail which delights me.

Guess who this reminded me off? Answer here.

I made one purchase in London - a box of tea bags, not just your old Tetley builders' tea but a boite of magnificence from Mariage Freres.

I lusted after these musical tea boxes - you didn't know you wanted them until now did you? Yes, where have they been all of our lives?

That may or may not be their Neisha Crossland upholstered banquette.

Consider this, 'proof of life', my lips are now sealed or else they will never let me slip within its hallowed doorway again. Sipping claret and swaying on my stool at the bar, I was the happiest little nightingale in Berkeley Square.
