Happy Fourth of July 2014!

Disclaimer: Purchased by me, gift from mom. See bottom for details.

Last night I was more interested in being lazy on the couch after having a dinner date with Mike at Friendly’s than blogging or even doing nail art. An order of quesadillas and a three-scoop Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Sundae and I was all about that lazy life.

I managed to do my nails finally, late, and I took pics this morning! I’m not actually feeling very well (hello, Friendly’s?) so these aren’t my best but I still wanted to share with you. I take my patriotic holidays very seriously.

Here’s my left hand:

Index finger and pinky: Deborah Lippmann I Know What Boys Like

Middle: base of Salon Perfect Grand Finale. I used my first Nail Vinyls, choosing the Star Burst pattern, and Deborah Lippmann It’s Raining Men.

Ring: base of Salon Perfect Star Spangled with another Nail Vinyls Star Burst stencil, and more It’s Raining Men.

I topped it all off with Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat.

The glitters were OK to work with. I had to place some stars and bar glitters after I lifted the Vinyls, my fault for doing it too soon but I waited my normal amount of time. I think the temps inside my house are off with the recent heat we’ve had and that we don’t have central air – we have two window units. Ugh. BUT, thank God we have that, right?

Because I never show it, and I was too lazy to repeat all this on my Cinderella hand, here’s what I did to my right hand:

Index and pinky are the same as left. My middle and ring fingers have a base of It’s Raining Men, and then I used Salon Perfect Save Me a Spot on top.

The glitters in that one were a little tough, I ended up pouring a bit out and picking up dots with my brush and placing them at one point.

I topped it all off with HK Girl, but I got HORRIBLE air bubbles, I think because of how much placing I did, and I actually forgot I put top coat on and did another go of it within moments. Oh yes. Ice cream really messes with my head!

My thumbs, by the way, are painted with I Know What Boys Like.

So what are you doing today to celebrate our independence? I know those of you outside the States are having just a Friday and to you I say, TGIF! Yay, weekends!

I started off my holiday by waking up late and JUST missing the Firecracker 5K I signed up for. I mean, I drove to it, and had to wait on a side street in my car as I was trying to find parking because the runners were crossing. So I drove home, parked, and went out and ran at race pace anyway, doing a 5K around my neighborhood at an average 10:13 min/mile. I pretty much did this because of my I Run 4 buddy, Max. He got me up and at ‘em.

Later today we have a BBQ at my Aunt Lu’s, and we’re going to stop by my brother- and sister-in-law’s house, too. I love that this holiday is on a Friday, and we don’t have to worry about work tomorrow, we can have fun stress-free!

I am also grateful, on every patriotic holiday, for the men and women in our armed services. The lives lost for our freedoms, and those who live their lives protecting us. THANK YOU. <3

Happy Fourth of July, friends!

Disclaimer: I received the Deborah Lippmann polishes as part of a Christmas gift from my mom, I purchased the Salon Perfects and the Nail Vinyls. Please visit my Disclosure tab for more information on how BeautyJudy.com keeps it real!
