Patience is not my thing. Anyone who knows me will tell you that, particularly my husband. I know what I want and I want it -
yesterday. Although I may have to remind myself of it regularly, I do know that just because an opportunity doesn't come up on my schedule doesn't mean the door is closed. And that the best things are worth waiting for. I talk about my day job only in the most vague terms here because, for a number of years, it has largely been a source of frustration and has tested my patience almost every single day. Why stay? Good jobs are hard to come by, and jobs where you get to work with your friends are even more rare. Despite everything, I didn't want to leave unless the perfect opportunity presented itself. Waiting for that to happen has, at times, been excruciating. But ultimately, it was worth it - that perfect opportunity came my way last week and my first day will be two weeks from today. That patience thing? Still totally overrated, as far as I'm concerned. But in this case, I admit, waiting - no matter how hard it was, and believe me, it was hard - paid off in the end. Right now, nothing - not even the fact that rain once again replaced beautiful summer weather just in time for the weekend - can bring me down!
