Shop Visit: Demimonde

Located on NE Broadway Street since 2012, Demimonde is both a showroom for owner and designer Rachael Donaldson’s beautiful jewelry line of the same name and a gift shop in a league of it’s own. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be content just to ogle Rachael’s gorgeous handmade creations, but you’ll also find an expertly curated selection of vintage clothing, housewares and accessories.

Rachael is a delight to chat with as she works on constructing jewelry at the front counter. Inspired by her upbringing in the Southwest, Demimonde jewelry brings to mind a perfect marriage of Native American and art deco aesthetics. Each piece is stunning to behold with intricate semiprecious stone beadwork and dazzling details, often including handcrafted brass fringe and African brass beads. If you’re looking for a real showstopper, then look no further!

Just in for fall, Demimonde is now stocked up on bewitching incense from Blackbird and dreamy candles from Tatine. You’ll also find ceramics from Martina Thornhill, vintage pottery, antique jewelry, modern jewels from Portland makers Betsy & Iya and Tiro Tiro and much more. Be sure to stop by to pick up some lovely baubles for yourself and your home! Demimonde is absolutely worth the trip, whether you’re a few minutes away or a few towns.

Demimonde is located in Portland, OR at 2428 NE Broadway St. and is open 11AM—6PM Monday—Saturday and 11AM—5PM on Sundays or shop Demimonde online. You can also follow Demimonde on Facebook and @demimondestudio on Instagram.
