Kiehls Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate Review

I must’ve already mentioned that my skin fell apart a few months or so ago – I had the roughest red sore patches on my cheeks, and had to sort of stop using most of my serums and potions in order to let it calm down. All that mattered was sorting out these crazy dry patches and trying to get my skin back to ‘normal’ or even ‘bearable’.

Then I went to a Kiehls event to celebrate the launch of their new Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturing Serum. I have become a big fan of Kiehls over this last year, just because I’ve found certain products (not everything) work really well for my skin. One product that works phenomenally well for my skin is this new serum.

This serum uses a liquid to serum technology to hydrate the skin to the ‘deepest layers of dehydrated skin’. It contains Shiso Leaf Extract, plant based glycerin (15%). During the event we had a skin tool used on our faces to measure how moisturised were are and most of us there were at least least slightly dehydrated. Our lovely Kiehls host measured his own skin (he has been using they serum) and he was head and shoulders above us on the skin-hydration levels.

So how is this product used?

Well – this product is used as a serum after cleansing and before moisturising. My first reaction was, WHAT, ANOTHER SERUM TO ADD? (my dressing table looks like a Kiehl’s stand already), but of course, it’s all about picking and choosing. For me, dehydration is a HUGE issue, so it’s more important than other things (as I can’t overload my hormonal pregnancy skin at the moment – in fact I have been told NOT to use my beloved Midnight Secret Oil whilst pregnant due to the essential oils in it).

This serum looks silicone-y when you squeeze it out. It does contain silicone-y ingredients. I am PLEASED to report, this does NOT leave a silicone greasy oily feel to the skin at all, it sinks in fast and is very lightweight so is great to layer with other skincare.

It’s unscented, it feels plain and bland, but in a good way, when your skin is as sensitive as mine.

Anyway – the results. Within just a few days of using this serum my skin was so much better. Dry patches disappeared by day 3, and everything just felt so so so much more healthier. I have been using it every day – even if I don’t have time to use anything else – it just keeps my skin topped up with hydration and prevents that awful dryness and patchiness.

How it looks – 1 pump is enough to spread over the face.

Verdict:

Good for dehydrated skin types or to boost a moisturiser that might feel like it’s not quite enough (but you don’t want a heavy cream for dry skins). Fantastic for people with super dry skin or dehydration like me.

Buy this for £40 (50ml) here or on counters.
