Anna Sui Lipstick V in 300 Light Pink Review

When I saw this Anna Sui Star Lipstick on Instagram I was like, Squee Squee Squee! How badly did I want it so.

I absolutely fell for the strange witch like packaging, in a clear blackish case and the twisty turny start carved shape of the lipstick. Since my aunt was heading to Malaysia, I gave her instructions to bring on back to me, and as always she totally picks up the wrong colours despite having very clear directions…I don’t know how she manages it. But still. At least I got a lipstick!

Anna Sui Star lipstick comes in a wide range of colours plus 3 marbled effect ones, and it is a hydrating but not overly creamy formula.

Here is the packaging which is rather impractical but LOOK AT IT. It is stunning. I love how fancy it looks.

Even better is the lipstick which is carved into a star shape. It makes zero difference – actually it makes it a bit harder to apply because who has such pointy lips anyway?! But who cares, it looks amazing. The shape of it reminds me of an old tree trunk for some reason…maybe I am just totally weird.

The shade I have is 300 Light Pink, which is one of the lightest colours in the whole range. I am partial to a light pink, so this is not the worst possible choice in my aunts rather interesting method of ‘picking a colour at random’.

It doesn’t look that light in the tube but it is when applied at least on my skin tone I would say its a true light pink, a slight blueish tone, not as creamy as MAC Angel which is one of my favourite light pinks, and a quite neutral. In fact, it doesn’t really do much for me – it’s not sexy and it’s not really funky it’s just….a colour. I will get some use out of it and yet I am not in love with it.

This colour has no shimmer to it and is slightly glossy. I would rather it had something else about it, like a fantastic shimmer, or a super glossy finish to make it stand out from my vast lipstick collection, but it doesn’t.

All in all, I fell for the packaging but this particular colour doesn’t win me over. The formula is harder than I expected, but I guess it will keep its shape for longer that way. I just wish it was a little more magical to wear.

Since getting this from Malaysia, I have realised that they sell new Anna Sui on ASOS (see the range here). These lipsticks are £23 on ASOS which is about the same as in Malaysia.
