RMK Creamy Foundation N (New and Old Formulas)

My favourite foundation ever – the one that has stood the test of time is RMK’s Creamy Foundation. On my extreme combination skin type (very dry or oily with blackheads) it just works a treat and leaves my skin feeling soft, healthy, hydrating and glowing. I have loved it for so long that I was a little bit disturbed to find out that it had been reformulated and is now called simply, Cream Foundation N. N for New!

It comes in 7 shades and I have both the old and new formula to compare here.

The packaging as you can see is very similar on both products – that distinctive RMK silver box with lettering. I wear shade 104 which adds a lovely glow to my skin without being overly yellow.

The back of the boxes – as you can see, both have 30g of product which with very regular wear still lasts me around a year (but I do not apply full make up every day – if you do then it will obviously last for less time).

The old formula has SPF15, the new one has a higher SPF28. The ingredients on the new box is on the side rather than the back.

Appearance wise of the actual jar, they are very similar. The new formula has a slightly bigger, square container. The amount given is the same so it doesn’t really bother me that the new one is bigger (although flatter in shape!) – it takes up about the same amount of room in my make up bag.

Speaking of the packaging overall – look, I think a pump foundation is more hygienic. I love this foundation so much though that I am happy to use the foundation in a pot even with the fiddly plastic lid it comes with.

Shade wise – I think these two are extremely close and I would say I am definitely 104 in both formulas. At first I thought the new shade was slightly darker but blended in it looks just right. However depending on what shade you use you might want to double check it is the same first. For example, 104 in RMK’s powder foundation is a tad too dark for me.

The new formula has a bigger hole (I can’t think of a better word!) which means I can dip my brush or sponge in a bit easier (I know, but I am the only person using this product so I am not so worried about germs!).

Anyway the most important thing is the formula of course.

I have received the old formula here. Basically, the old formula lasts beautifully on the skin, covers pores and redness well, and leaves skin glowing and radiant. It also photographs very well.

Of the new formula they say: So how did I find the new formula? It’s actually quite similar (thank god) to the old formula – good coverage but natural, easy to blend in and glowing.

“Argan Oil and Shea Butter infused formula nourishes the skin and works to enhance its barrier function for soft and glowing skin. Stretch Film fits so perfectly that it will go unnoticed in any facial movement.”

I would say that this foundation has a mattier finish, but not necessarily in a bad way – ladies with oilier skins can probably now try this foundation whereas before I wouldn’t have recommend it for oilier skin types. It’s actually – despite the mattier finish, more hydrating (it contains Argan oil) and I found my skin felt soft and hydrated all day (although the old formula also did this).

It covers as well as the old formula too (pores, redness)…all I can really say is that this foundation is as good as the old formula just that the finish is slightly more matt I found. I am actually wearing the new foundation in this post and the old one in this post.

Verdict:

PHEW! The new formula is as good as the old, which is already excellent, so definitely feel free to try tho foundation if you haven’t already!
