Candle Gifting; Bayliss & Harding, Morris & Co, Jewel Candle, Pied a Terre & Aromatherapy Associates

Still looking for some last minute presents?! Here are some of my favourite candles (I now have a candle drawer would you believe!?) that I have been burning recently, sometimes one by one, but occasionally all together!

Morris & Co. Soy Candle is lovely – it has a very clean burn and comes in a lovely gift box. It has a somewhat spicy scent that fills the room.

With sandalwood, incense, vanilla, violet, patchouli and amber, bergamot and pepper in the top notes, this creates a really warm, spicy smell – actually my favourite of all the ones mentioned here. I also like the pretty jar which I will clean out after it is finished because it’s quite a good quality, weighty jar.

This is £20 from Heathcote and Ivory and I really recommend this for spicy scent lovers.

Also on the more masculine savoury note is this huge candle from Bayliss & Harding in Black Pepper and Ginseng. Once again this fills the room quite well with a spicy scent – it’s not as peppery as I expected though but it’s more subtle for people who like a softer room scent.

I can’t seem to find this online anywhere but Amazon have a good selection of Baylis & Harding candles, such as the Mandarin & Grapefruit 3 wick candle for just £11.21!

If you want to give a gift in a gift then try Jewel Candle – this one is Happy Birthday which might not be the first choice for Christmas but there are lots of types to choose from. You get a hidden jewel in each candle – as it burns away, you can fish out the foil wrapped piece of jewellery which can be a ring, or earrings etc. of various value. The smaller jars (as pictured) includes earrings and the larger jars have rings.

I know! I should’ve trimmed the wick first!

There are 3 Christmas editions for £24.95 (large candles with rings) in Santa Claus, Cinnamon Bun and Merry Christmas. The rings are sterling silver and worth up to £250 and will have the value on the tag. See them here.

The only thing about Jewel Candle is that the scents are more like what you’d get from Yankee – more commercial rather than aromatherapy type scents. Depends what your thang it!

I do love Aromatherapy type scents so I love Aromatherapy Associates Inner Strength candle (£35) which is actually quite subtle in my opinion but is nice for people who don’t like overwhelming scents in the room. It has a combination of frankincense and cardamom and is made from soy wax too which means it burns very cleanly (just as well cos I have zero wick maintenance skills). 10% goes to the charity Defence Against Cancer.

It comes in this pretty jar too:

Buy it here.

Finally, Pied a Terre (the shoe brand) have some chic candles – I have Iris & Vetiver and Plum & Black Amber.

Iris and Vetiver is a large 3 wick candle (£14) that has a floral but slightly warm touch to it which has medium strength. It is a ‘floriental’ which is iris, rose and pink pepper, as well as musk, peach and bergamot. If I wasn’t sure what scents someone liked this is the kind of candle I would get them because it’s quite neutral and I imagine likeable for most people.

Plum and Black Amber comes in a super sexy jar (£14) which I will DEFINITELY keep after the wax has burned away! This is a fruity scent with notes of Cedar, Musk, Rose, Jasmin, Peach, Cassis, Rhubarb. I found it quite a berry like scent, once again neutral enough to be liked by most people and has a 50 hour burn time.

Are you looking forward to getting any candles for Christmas?
