From boring to boho: 9 ways to hook up your lounge area.

I have a pretty boring couch on its own; it’s the one I inherited when my boyfriend moved in with me yearrrrs ago now (I would love something floral and awesome…one day). Anyway, I was thinking of ways I could make it more exciting and that thought evolved into how to make the whole surrounding lounge area a little more Bohemian. It helps to think: ‘What would Justina do?’

Add fringing to the edge of the sofa (next time I would embellish it with longer to the floor fringe for a more dramatic effect). Use an old crate as a pseudo side table with built-in shelving. Top it off with a chunk of amethyst and brass animal. Drape your drab couch in vintage and vibrant fabrics- I used Indian kantha quilts. Add exotic cushions from travels to far-off lands; this one is sequinned and from Morocco! Plants are the best way to evoke a laid-back atmosphere in your space and a stronghold in any Bohemian interior. Also, a great, colorful rug can always paint a prettier room!! But still…something was missing…

…A wall hanging!!! A vintage tapestry is a tried and true boho choice; hang an old kimono on a beautiful branch, macramé art or a moroccan wedding blanket for the finishing touch. Et voilà!

Let me recap:

1. Fringe out the edge of your sofa.

2. Crates as storage.

3. Crystals.

4. Brass animals.

5. Draping in vintage fabrics.

6. Exotic throw cushions.

7. Plants, plants, plants!

8. Colorful rug.

9. Wall hanging.

What have I missed? How else would you add a new Bohemian flare to your space?
