our casa: the latest

I still can’t believe how much progress we’re making in our apartment renovations, considering the known fact that italians are slow at doing things. And by things I mean ALL THE THINGS. Post office things, supermarket things, even crossing the street. Nothing needs to be done in fretta (a rush) but anything can be done con calma.
Which brings me to a little piece of news that I’ve been dying to share. Manu and I were this close (think a millimeter of space between my thumb and index finger, that close) to getting approved to be on our own episode of House Hunters International Renovations! (HGTV fan-girl scream!) BUT. We didn’t get it. And want to know why? Because they know how Italians are. Slow. And our projects would never be done in time for the editing process and all that important TV stuff. (Photoshopping! Subtitle writing!)
Oh, but if they could see us now! We’re only two weeks into the “real” renovation and we already have all the electrical wiring, plumbing and hot water heater installing done. Plus all the bathroom tile has been ordered, along with the kitchen tile, our wood floors and even the kitchen itself is all picked out and being made by the Swedish lovelies at IKEA as we speak!

A week or so after I got the call that HHIR wasn’t going to happen, my father-in-law sent me a text, “What happen with Hunter House?” Nothing like a foreigner speaking English to bring a smile to your face, am I right? Everyone keeps telling us that we’ll be on TV someday…I’m just hoping the producers will be on Italian time.
Next up on the casa update: our kitchen!
