Milestones

I adore this quote because it’s exactly how I feel about life right now. It’s a funny thing about knowing things are coming to an end.. it really puts things in perspective. As excited as I am about moving, I am really trying as hard as possible to stay rooted in each day and enjoy whatever it brings me.

Phew. It has been quite a few days! I had a wonderful holiday weekend – the 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays of the year, hands down. I think I gained about 5 shades of color in one weekend and I couldn’t be more excited about it. I’ve never been as pale as this past winter in my whole life, so I’m gladly welcoming this return to my normal skin tone!

Although I haven’t moved just yet, this week was pretty big for me. I started my new job and also am so excited (and relieved) that I finalized a place to live in New York! I’m the type of person who really likes to savor moments — I’m a lot like my Grandpa in that I cherish experiences and little memories a lot more than I do things. Today was a day that I may forget one day down the road, but the magnitude of it will stay with me for a long time. It was the first step in my “new life” and although a scary one, I’m super excited. I still can’t believe I’m moving and things are about to completely change.

It kind of hit me this weekend because we met a lot of new people and the same question kept coming up… “what do you do?” So I ended up telling my story about 15-20 times and it really started sinking in that this isn’t fake … it’s really happening! I don’t know what is truly in store for me, but that’s what so exciting. Thank you for all of the sweet e-mails and messages about finding a place!

Outside of my family and friends, one of the things I miss the most about not being in Texas is having a car. I’m teaming up with Cadillac this week and bopping around town and sharing some of my favorite spots in Chicago thanks for the pretty little ride they’ve lent me! I’m looking forward to getting to explore this amazing city during one of my last free-as-a-bird weekends in town. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend – thanks for following and I promise when things settle down it’ll be back to normal! xo
