Cape and Lace

Ann Taylor lace pencil skirt (taken in, similar), Sheinside cape c/o (fur trim removed, last posted here) Talbots petites cashmere sweater c/o and necklace (old), gloves from mom, YSL pumps
Unrelated to this outfit, I wanted to mention this cute Gap navy striped dress which is currently on sale for 40% off until midnight 1/15. (Update: That promo is now over, but in other sale news Ann Taylor is having 50% off everything this weekend, including new arrivals!) There's a lot of striped flare dresses on the market, but the longer sleeves on this one stood out (yay for work-appropriateness without having to layer). It’s very popular in regular sizing and nearly sold out there, but almost all petite sizes remain. Based on the reviews, this could possibly be due to the length falling on the shorter side. I ordered one last week at a smaller discount and am still waiting for it to arrive, but liked it on Fran despite her concerns about the puffy skirt. If the dress fits (update), I’ll have to borrow her simple but darling red flats belt idea.

In today’s post is this Talbots Audrey sweater (tons of color options) yet again...soft cashmere neutral camel has made it a quick wardrobe workhorse. I feel the less-common boatneck style gives off a classic vibe true to the sweater’s namesake. And 3/4 length sleeves mean no more chunky rolled-up cuffs for shorter arms. I'm wearing a Petite sz P (usually corresponds to numerical sizes 0-2) and the fit is not snug nor baggy.

I last posted this cape worn casually, and also wanted to show it as outerwear with a work-appropriate ensemble. With so much volume up top, I made sure to keep the bottom half more fitted, either with slim pants or a tapered skirt. I also love the look of a cape with over-the-knee flat boots.
