I feel like once Thanksgiving is over, everyone in the US kicks in to full-on holiday mode. Everyone goes shopping for gifts (and as a side note, I do not understand the concept of stocking stuffers!), work slows down, and there are Christmas decorations everywhere!
Christmas is not a public holiday in Japan, and it has been marketed as a couples’ day. Christmas eve is the day that couples go out to dinner, and it is extremely difficult to book a dinner reservation on that day. On December 25th, all stores take off their Christmas decorations and the day seems over… and we head into full-on holiday mode in preparation for New Year’s Day, the biggest holiday in Japan!
