What Why Where: East Side Gallery

What happens when your street art loving self encounters 1.3 kilometers (or just under a mile, in American speak) of street art goodness? THIS!

Now I see why everyone told me I have to go to Berlin. Not only is just about every building graffitied but there’s a very special gallery — the East Side Gallery — that happens to be a “memorial for freedom” (of the Berlin Wall coming down). I found it to be a memorial of awesomeness. It was quite a site to see and I’m happy I have these photos that I can share with you and as a memory of what might be some of most vibrant street art I’ve ever come across.

WHAT (am I wearing):
Sweatshirt: Neil Barrett. Jeans: Levi’s Made & Crafted. Shoes: 3.1 Phillip Lim. Sunglasses: Zac Posen x Illesteva. Bag: Proenza Schouler. Ring: Caia Jewels.

WHY (am I wearing it):
When it comes to extended international trips like this, I am dressed comfortably 24/7. Whether I’m walking around during the day or going out at night, it’s always versatile pants, a cool top and flat shoes for me. I got these Levi’s Made & Crafted jeans at Tenue de Nîmes (talked about here) and that was the first time I had come across this specific Levi’s line (which apparently is just a nicer quality denim, compared to their regular jeans)…and I may or may not have worn them just about everyday since (don’t judge). Coming from someone who has a very difficult time finding jeans that fit well (let’s just say I’m far from “straight down”), loving on denim this hard is quite the rare occasion. So this is kind of a big deal. The sweatshirt I found at De Bijenkorf (a very well known and super cool department store in Amsterdam) and it was just the right weight to wear around all day without getting too hot or cold (which is going to really come in handy once I get back to Chicago). Topping the look off with minimal accessories (and those damn Phillip Lim loafers that have showed up wayyyy too many times on CCF)…this is my typical travel look (which would be way less exciting if I didn’t have this fantastic background).

And now, back to Chicago!
