The Little Us

Yesterday I learned a new word: daguerreologue (get more of those here). The spelling check on my computer went wild and yet here’s the definition:

“An imaginary interview with an old photo of yourself, an enigmatic figure who still lives in the grainy and color-warped house you grew up in, who may well spend a lot of their day wondering where you are and what you’re doing now, like an old grandma whose kids live far away and don’t call much anymore.”

This imaginary interview could be easily illustrated with photos from the new spring/summer 2015 collection Royal Garden by Latvian kids fashion label Aristocratic Kids.

I’m no kid anymore but I’ve not forgotten what it feels like to be one.

Vakar iemācījos jaunu vārdu: daguerreologue jeb dagerologs (visādus līdzīgus meklējiet šeit). Kamēr datora pareizrakstības programma sajuka prātā, te būs definīcija:

“Iedomāta intervija ar vecu fotogrāfiju, kurā redzams mīklains tu pats, kurš joprojām dzīvo graudainajā tavas bērnības mājā un visticamāk pavada dienas prātojot, kur tu tagad esi un ko tu tagad dari, gluži kā sirma vecmāmiņa, kuras bērni ir izauguši, dzīvo tālu prom un piezvana pavisam reti.”

Šīs iedomātās intervijas noskaņu kaut kur ilustrē arī fotogrāfijas no latviešu bērnu apģērbu modes zīmola Aristocrat Kids pavasara/vasaras 2015 kolekcijas Royal Garden.

Vairs neesmu maza, bet ļoti labi atceros to sajūtu, kā ir tādai būt.
