Naked is Good

Every year on her birthday, April 22nd, Lucy Hilmer puts on socks and shoes and captures herself on film. Right then and there. What’s been important to her and what she believes in at that moment – everything is seen in her gaze. Only to her, obviously, as we, the onlookers, can only guess. She’s been doing this for 40 years, since her 29th birthday. Next year she will be 70.

At one moment I started to collect girls on Pinterest. Their lives are documented in other fashion than that of Lucy’s and yet they are so real that I feel like watching through a keyhole.

I don’t know their names but I know that they have beauty marks, some scar here and there and sometimes they are sleepy. They like to hang around the house half naked and they eat breakfast as if they’ve forgotten to put on clothes. But when they decide to go out, they would probably wear a little bit of see-through honesty by Fl*sh you&me. It would suit them.

Katru gadu savā dzimšanas dienā, 22. aprīlī, Lūsija Hilmere sameklē fotoaparātu, uzvelk zeķes un kurpes un iemūžina sevi tai dzīves momentā, kurā tobrīd atrodas. Vairāk iekšēji, nekā ārēji. Mums, skatītājiem, protams, vairāk ārēji. Un tā jau 40 gadu. Nākamgad viņa svinēs savu 70. dzimšanas dienu.

Kādu brīdi savā pinterestā veidoju kolekciju ar meitenēm. Viņas nav tik dokumentālas kā Lūsija, un tomēr tieši tik īstas, ka pārņem sajūta, ka skatos pa atslēgas caurumu.

Nezinu viņām vārdus, tikai to, ka viņām ir dzimumzīmītes, rētas un citreiz miegs acīs. Dažkārt viņas pa māju staigā puskailas un brokastis ēd pusapģērbušās. Un, kad viņas tomēr nolems iziet no mājām, iespējams, zem biezajiem rudens džemperiem uzvilks Fl*sh you&me caurspīdīgumu.
