Fashion Week Diary: LFW SS15 – Day 1

London Fashion Week is upon us everyone, this means I will be frantically running to shows, hailing cabs, wearing fancier clothes, catching up with pals, and being amazed by the gorgeous fashion collections. Day 1 has been a long one but a good one, probably one of the best day 1’s I have had in a long time, which I think has a lot to do with how much I loved the dreamy, romantic and exquisitely crafted Bora Aksu collection.

Bora Aksu is always a highlight of LFW for me, and I promise to share and gush more about the ‘A Dancer With Wings’ collection, but I just had to share these few snaps of the Bora Aksu army, the incredible handmade embroideries and crochet detailing on the romantic pieces, and the designer’s first eyewear collection in collaboration with TD Tom Davies, LOVE!!!

What I always love about Bora is the attention to detail and the 3D appliques really did add a luxurious texture to the entire collection that was filled with such gorgeous playful dresses, I basically want them all.

Next up was a trip to The Apartment, which is celebrating its 5th anniversary, and of course it is bigger and better and that is just the lunch. This season they have teamed up with the Gourmet Burger Kitchen and it was so nice to take a break from shows to sit down and eat a meal with friends, catch up and have a giggle, and it really helped that the food was delicious.

Then it was time for a quick photoshoot to snap today’s outfit, my bargain Zara swishy leather skirt, I think it is more pleather than leather but it is a goodie and only costs £34.99, and I thought it looked perfect with this cute Red Valentino top with its back bow detailing, which was highlighted perfectly with my messy bun done by the fast beauty team, Blow Ltd, who really are my LFW rescuers.

My Style: Skirt, Zara // Top, Red Valentino, Harvey Nichols (c/o) // Glasses, Karen Millen (c/o) // Boots, Topshop // Bag, Russell & Bromley // Bracelet, Links of London, Joshua James Jewellery (c/o) // Watch, Shore Projects (c/o) // Hair by Blow Ltd at The Apartment //

Then it was off to see Fyodor Golan at The Vaults near Waterloo, the collection was an explosion of colour, and full on energy, inspired by conceptual artists Lucio Fontana and Robert Morris. It was great to see, but sadly my crappy standing position meant I have no decent photos to share, just a little Instagram video of the finale.

Next up was Paul Costelloe, who was making his return to LFW after a few seasons off, sadly I missed the catwalk show due to the over running Fyodor Golan show but I did get to see the models showing off the collection at the presentations, which is probably better as you get to see the clothes up close.

The SS15 line is fun and playful, filled with babydoll vibes with empire line dresses in cocoon silhouettes, which really were adorable in mint greens, floral jacquards and navy blues. I also think this show has to take the award for best hair of the day – those beehives are amazing.

Last show of the day was Christopher Raeburn, who is always a highlight of Day 1 and his SS15 collection didn’t disappoint as it was stunning. The backpack still reigns, but it is prettier this season with marble-effect colour prints, which were simply beautiful. My favourite item had to be this multi-coloured parka, I really love the swirling print, which I am going to call fashion camo, and I am sure I am not the only one who wants to wear it.

Day 1 done, shattered but excited about tomorrow as I have lots on the schedule including Orla Kiely, Markus Lupfer, Holly Fulton and House of Holland.
