Glossybox - August 3rd Birthday Edition

Good afternoon!
I was recently given the opportunity to review Glossybox, one of the more well known beauty subscription boxes and I eagerly accepted because I had heard generally good things about the service. My first Glossybox happens to be a special box, in celebration of their 3rd birthday, Glossybox included a special Kryolan for Glossybox highlighter in all boxes and the theme was #eyesnightout. Let's see what other things I received!

A full sized Eyeko Black Magic Mascara in Midnight Blue (retail: $24)

The color is a dark navy, so the blue effect on your lashes is very subtle. I could see a flicker of blue on the corner of my eyes, but I don't think anyone else viewing your makeup will notice. I liked that this mascara didn't smudge or go anywhere and gave great volume, but it didn't enhance any curl very much. I do have some really stick straight lashes though, so those with longer lashes may notice a bigger difference.

Eyeko Skinny Mini Liquid Eyeliner Black (retail for full size is $16).

This was the one product that I didn't like, but I suspect that it was because the cap on the one I received didn't click close all the way and that it was somewhat dried out by the time I used it. The cap was really hard to snap to a close. It's very black and pigmented but it skipped a lot as I used it; it was time consuming to get both eyes even.

Kryolan for Glossybox Highlighter in Cashmere (not sure of retail because it's a special exclusive).
I really liked this highlighter! It's a superfine pearly champagne color, in an emollient cream formula. It may look like a very small pot but trust me, a little goes a long way. A few small dabs creates a nice glow without huge shimmer particles or frosty skin. On oily skin, I would be really careful because overuse definitely can look slick. I liked to use it under finishing powder, it gave a subtle glow without feeling oily or too sparkly. Too bad this is an exclusive item! I like it much more than other comparable liquid/cream highlighters (like the ones I reviewed here).

Eyeko Skinny Mini Liquid Eyeliner on the left, Kryolan Highlighter in the middle (solid swatch) and blended out on the right. That's not me drawing dashed lines, the liner skipped a lot as I drew stripes.

Since the theme was all about the eyes, I did a simple but long eyeliner wing to elongate and emphasize the eyes, with flushed but soft face & lips.

Overall, this box definitely exceeded the $21 cost in value of products. While I didn't like the Eyeko liner, I did really love the Kryolan Highlighter to more than make up for it. The mascara was pretty good, though it wasn't as blue as one could have hoped (then again, almost anyone would use a near-black mascara).

Edit:
Correction! Every box will contain the Kryolan Highlighter and the Eyeko Skinny Mini Liner, as well as OTHER products, these are just sneak previews. The mascara is a GWP with your first box order - use "MAGIC" at checkout.

To be automatically entered into a dinner on Glossybox, tag looks made with the August box with #eyesnightout to win. See Glossybox for details.
