Bar Baretto, a little Italian wine bar in Surry Hills

Cheese platter – $16. A price I like!

Even the house wines here are good. Although they don’t seem to really like you ordering them.

I like the lights here.

So here’s the thing, I have no idea why Bar Baretto is so quiet.

  • It’s owned by the same family that own Il Baretto (so you know the food is good)
  • There’s a great selection of interesting Italian wines
  • If you do go down the house wine route it will only cost you $6 a glass
  • You can always get a table and the staff are really friendly.

So why doesn’t anyone go here?! Perhaps it’s because it’s not in a place you would expect a wine bar – it’s on the quiet end of Bourke St just down the road from Il Baretto. Perhaps no one knows about it – it didn’t even exist on Urban Spoon until I added it as a place. Well anyway, I’m a fan of this place. I often find myself here after dinner eating way too much cheese and drinking wines with names I can’t pronounce but wish I could.
