Philadelphia Fashion and Shopping Events


This will be my last post for a little while! Going out west on a wee wilderness hiatus....
I wanted to thank the lovely folks at Eve's Addiction for their interview! Can't believe they wanted me to be apart of their blogger series, it is certainly an honor. For your jewelry-hungry shoppers, they half some pretty trendy and affordable pieces. The evil eye jewelry and wrap chain watches are among my favorites for the season.
Fashion events throughout the area are still popping up so below is a quick list of current gigs happening around the city and out in King of Prussia.
Saturday, Sept 28: The King of Prussia Vera Bradley store is partnering with InStyle magazine for a Fall Fashion Preview. From 2:00 - 4:00 pm, the store will be serving complimentary drinks and sweet treats, host a live DJ, and give visitors a chance to win a special Vera Bradley prize package. If you are one of the first to RSVP, guests will also receive a special gift (must be on the RSVP list to receive the gift). If you spend $75 you will receive $20 off!
Saturday, October 5, 11AM – 4PM: KAM Model Open Call

WHAT: KAM Models LLC, a new Philadelphia-based national and international boutique modeling agency specializing in, but not limited to, multicultural models, is hosting a model open call on in Philadelphia.

DESIGN PHILADELPHIA 2013 EVENTS!
Oct 10-13, 16-18 – the fashioners: Poetry of Process – Mode Moderne – 12:00pm-5:00pm
the fashioners is a collective of designers and artists who use cloth as the main component for their individual works. Their goal is to share their expertise, ideas and resources with one another to create a lively community of support and collaboration. the fashioners’ installation for DesignPhiladelphia posits an alternative approach to the haute couture fashion house model that both illustrates and unravels the institution. Each fashioner has an affinity for particular aspects of the process resulting in bespoke pieces that disregard rules of scale and repetition, functional garments animated by woodworked armatures, artisanal hand dyed and printed fabrics, and unique collage-accessories that references the poetry of the process.
Oct 10 - Fashion/Photography/Food – Ristorante Panorama – 6:00pm-9:00pm
Stimulate all 5 senses. Visit Ristorante Panorama Wine Bar for wine and light bites while browsing fashion and photography. Shop Charm Studio pop-up boutique offering coveted collections from local and independent designers. Meat America book signing with Dominic Episcopo’s eye-opening and artery closing visual essay on the American spirit; as told through meat.

Oct 11 – Sparkle Emotion – Scarlett Alley – 5:00pm-8:00pm
Join us for cocktails and conversation with Catherine Canino whose jewelry is designed and handmade with integrity, love and attention to detail. A graduate of RISD, Catherine has created for iconic brands such as Ralph Lauren, Roman Sunstone and her own label. Inspirations include equestrian and nautical hardware, estate jewelry, antique locks and closures, but most importantly the women of impeccable personal style whose clients we share.
Oct 13, 1:00pm-4:00pm: LAGOS in Rittenhouse Square
Join LAGOS at our Rittenhouse Square store to experience the jewelry designs of Steven Lagos. You will discover the creative process of Bold Caviar from the initial sketch to hand-crafted wax molds and casting to presentation of the final piece. Complimentary champagne and light refreshments will be served.
Oct 13 – C.U.R.V.V. – University of Pennsylvania Museum – 6:00pm-10:00pm $35.00 advanced ticket required
C.U.R.V.V. is the first fashion exhibition to highlight full-figured high fashion. The exhibit will consist of 12 handmade gowns, designed and constructed by ChaCha N’Kole, inspired by the art work currently on display at the University of Penn Museum. Fashion and Art History professors from the University of Pennsylvania, Moore College of Art and Design, and the Art Institute of Philadelphia will be invited to critique each submission piece. They will be judged on accuracy of incorporated historic reference, creativity, technique and execution. The subsequent short film, produced jointly by ChaCha N’Kole and TsiTsi P. Productions, shows a plus size model’s struggle to suppress insecurities while pursuing her lifelong dream.
Oct 15 5-8pm: Fashion Meets Interior Design | Art of Woodwork – Arcadia Boutique Free
Swoon over fashion, fabrics and finishes! Open house cocktail party to celebrate the launch of Design 6 Interior Design’s new space inside Arcadia Boutique. This event will feature a wood furniture installation by The Wood Shop and fashion show of Arcadia’s Fall collections.
Oct 17, 12pm-2pm: Philadelphia Fashion Incubator Tour @ Macy’s Free
The Philadelphia Fashion Incubator will open its doors to the public for the first time during DesignPhiladelphia. Come for a tour of the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator studio and meet the Designers-in-Residence. Four tours start every half hour from noon to 1:30pm.
Oct 17, 5-7pm: Opening Reception for Philadelphia Fashion Incubator Exhibition at City Hall Free
Join the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator for the opening reception of their fashion exhibit highlighting the 2013 collection and the Designers-in-Residence. Learn more about this exciting program. Exhibit on view October 7-December 6
