I ran into
Scout Salvage and Vintage Rescue shop in Old City not too long after they opened and I couldn't wait to stop back. Now settled in and decorated, the walls are hung with old farm fruit signs, antlers and
other randomness you could pick up for yourselves. The dressing room still smells of sawdust and constructed like a
wee wooden cabin. Betsy, the store owner was certainly pleasant to chat with and was heading out to LA next week to pick-up more vintage clothing for her shop. She's no rookie, coming from the Brooklyn Flea market, she was raised in Harrisburg and hoped to open her own shop her in Philly. I fell
in love with her selection of vintage cowboy boots ($25-$150) in beat-up camel,
black and turquoise leather. The clothing selection is a crazy-cool mix of 50-70's dresses. shirts, and tops with some military threads thrown in, priced from
$20-$40 for the clothes. Industrial furniture and refurbished wood are great personality pieces for your pad, costing no more than $150. Smaller home
knick-knacks make nostalgic gifts such as mason jar shakers, music beer steins, and Incense from the West.
