ON SPORTSWEAR

Yes, we're talking sportswear.

Fashion is a strange place. One day we're dressed up as Audrey Hepburn and the next we're looking like Mick Jagger meets Fresh Prince of Bell Air. While I can't enlighten you as to why this is the case, I suspect that the answer to this also explains how sportswear ended up being THE thing in fashion and why wearing a football t-shirt or an airtrex basketball tee (because yes, we've taken on basketball as well) with heels is acceptable.

Blame Alexander Wang and his spring summer collection with reference to American sportswear and the ease with which baseball caps have entered the runway, for the sportswear plague that has hit the streets and my head.
My case in favour of sportswear and specifically the football T in its upbeat version is that ease it carries. It's effortless but not dull, and its comes with a dose of playfulness. That's a 3 in 1.
While I won't be wearing a girdle, or shoulder pads any time soon, nor will I seek to extend my knowledge on American Football or any kind of sport for that matter, I cannot preclude that the my wardrobe will not be found flooded in sportswear of the American variety.
Viva la sportswear.
mini tip: Take one piece at a time - Wear a football t-shirt or a basketball t-shirt or a rugby t-shirt with a skirt, or wear it as a dress if the lenght of the hemline allows. No other sports equipment or attire allowed. Contrast the sportsman in you with femine pieces and you're ready to set and go!
