HAUTE RIGHT NOW: STELLA JEAN

Haute as in Hot. We're talking Italian born, Caribbean heritage, couture like craftsmanship.
Stella Jean is on our agenda today while I could happily and repeatedly scroll through her collections for another day, another week and god knows for how long before my excitement, amazement and fascination fade out. I always knew I was easily seduced by beautiful clothes but this goes beyond seduction. There is a whole world hidden in her pieces which makes you want to be the kind of woman who can carry them.
The new and young (and ex-model) Stella Jean, the designer du jour, was born in Rome and is of Caribbean origins. This multicultural background has translated in an ability to harmoniously combine African prints and staples of the modern western world (see pinstriped and checked shirts) but that's not all; her pieces appear couture like- the silhouettes, the craftsmanship, the detail. It's no wonder that Stella Jean is the winner of Vogue Italy and AltaRomasponsored contest ‘Who’s on Next‘. Are you falling in love yet?
Spring Summer 2013 / Stella Jean
Fall Winter 2013-14 / Stella Jean

If by now you feel like you want to know everything about Stella Jean, which I am guessing you are, you may be pleased to know that Moda Operandi has collaborated with this rising star on an exclusive capsule of her most covetable silhouettes. Touting ladylike lines emboldened by ethnic influences, the pieces of the collaboration carry that multicultural feel. Despite the uniqueness in the designs and the strong identity the brand's pieces carry, they fell so utterly now. You can just see this checked dress on a fashion editor who is trotting to go to the next fashion show during Fashion Week or this Peony Wax Cotton Full Skirt Party Dress on one of the icons of the Russian fashion flock.
Stella Jean - Moda Operandi Capsule Collection / available at Moda Operandi unti August 27th.
The capsule collection will be available to purchase here at M' O', until the 27th of August and I suggest you better start clicking. What's even more noteworthy and admirable for this rising star is that, Stella Jean supports organizations that create working opportunities for women in Africa. This capsule collection for Moda Operandi was no exception and created those opportunities in the making of these pieces.
