lookbook love: gaolhouse denim

I haven’t posted a lookbook since Tarun Tahiliani‘s offering in June last year. It’s been a conscious choice as I felt the blog wasn’t representing me honestly (if you’re interested in the reasons, you can find them here). Every now and then, however, something touches me so deeply that I have to share – enter gaolhouse denim.

The brainchild of 26-year old Will Unwin, the brand operates in collaboration with the British Prison Service. In addition to paying the inmates to produce the jeans, they also have the opportunity to learn new skills, gain confidence and develop a strong work ethic that will hopefully stay with them upon release.

It’s a wonderful project, but I don’t think it would work if it wasn’t for Will’s incredible aesthetic (scroll through the images below to see what I mean) and focus on creating one thing very well – a five-pocket classic fit jean for the boys (and me if I get my mitts on a pair).

Visit gaolhouse denim to find out more. You can also read my interview with Will here.
