Fun owl art and art book challenge

Did you know my friends Ashley and Jamin wrote some really cool books? It is only fitting because they are really cool people. One of their books is a super creative book about frames and the other three are books of frame-able art.

They asked myself and 9 other bloggers to take the art form the books and do anything with them but frame them. You know me, I am always up for a creative challenge!

Welcome by the way of you are coming over from Jones Design Company!

I decided to really make it fun and do something for my daughters room.

I want to show you how I made this really cute owl art for her room with leaves in the background.

I went through all of the books and found some prints I liked. It was hard because there were so many I loved.

I decided to use a few different pages from each book.

then I went out and collected some leaves from the backyard.

I gathered some Maple, Red bud, Kwanzan Cherry, and Oak leaf Hydrangea leaves.

I used the leaves as a template and traced around them, and then cut them out.

One my leaves were all cut out, I put them aside and cut out the owl print I had picked, and glued it to cardboard.

While I waited for it to dry. I assembled my found twig stand, using a birch bark craft wood slice.

I hot glued to two together, using some twine at the base for texture and strength.

the branch looked a little naked, so I mixed white glitter into white craft glue and smooshed it on with a wood craft stick.

That way when it dried, the branches would have a nice sparkle to them.

I hung my cut out leaves in the back ground by clipping them on twine with clothes pins.

and it was done!

I think he is so cute!

And he looks very wise!

I love these books because there is so much more you can do with them beside frame the art inside!

You can find Ashley and Jamin’s books here.

and you can head on over to see the next project at The Inspired Room!
