Janey The Lady: Queen of the Couch
It’s been a while since I blogged about Janey and I know that a lot of you are dog lovers as well so today, I figured it’s time to bring that pooch back on the blog to say hello.
For those of you who are new to the blog and aren’t aware of who Janey is, Tim and I adopted adopted her from the RSPCA last December. As she was sadly abandoned at the RSPCA, they have no idea what breed or age she was because she wasn’t microchipped and desexed. Tim and I are so glad to be able to give her her forever home. Sure she drives us absolutely up the wall from time to time but ah, we love the ol’ gal.
Janey is crate-trained and before you gasp at her being in a cage, let me assure you that she absolutely loves her crate. She’s a small dog and being a rescue as well, she’s easily frightened and anxious over the littlest things so having a dark spot of her very own to hide in calms her down. It has her bed, blanket and toys to keep her warm and occupied. The crate door is left open at all times as long as one of us are at home. Sometimes, it’s difficult to even get her out of the crate when she’s so comfortable in there.
Having said that, she absolutely loves couch time. We don’t allow her to jump on the couch willy-nilly and she knows she’s only allowed to be on the couch when her special blanket (i.e. a cheapie fleece from IKEA) is placed on the couch with her very own bed. And when she’s on the couch, she owns it.
Now our couch is a 2.5 seater and when we place the blanket and bed on it, she practically takes up half the entire couch. Tim and I have to share one half of the couch while Her Royal Highness takes up the other half. She also loves to stretch out on her bed which just means one thing: Humans, RUB MY BELLY NOW.
Whenever I’m on the couch, I love having her next to me. I’ll be writing or blogging away on the iPad and she’ll be dreaming of chasing cats and other dogs next to me. It’s really funny to hear her grunt and softly bark in her sleep.
Oh yeah, she’s queen of the couch all right. Ah well, as long as she’s not the queen of the remote control, it’s all good.
