China Glaze The Giver Collection

I love when brands give us nail polishes inspired by movies. The recently launched movie The Giver has been making waves in the movie world. I remember reading this book when I was in elementary or middle school but honestly…I can’t remember too much about it. When time permits, I’m going to check it out again. I always prefer to the read the book before seeing the movie. But in the meantime, I’ve been playing around with these polishes that I got as samples. While this collection didn’t instantly blow me away, it does have some special shades that I think nail polish lovers will appreciate.

Community is a milk chocolate brown and I have officially decided that I like brown nail polishes against my brown skin. There is just something so interesting and striking about brown polishes and I love seeing them in newer nail polish collections.

Brace yourself because Five Rules is just one of many similar shades that we are going to see in this collection. This creamy dirty eggshell shade is pretty in its own right.

Seeing Red is a stunning fire engine red that I wasn’t prepared to fall in love with, but…I did. Then again, like many reds, once you own 5 different reds, you really own them all. This is pretty but it isn’t insanely unique.

Intelligence Intergity & Courage is the longest nail polish name everrrr! Haha, I’m kidding. Not really, though. I do really like this dusty and muted light blue. It has a bit of gray in it and I think it’ll look beautiful on just about anyone.

The Outer Edge is a white snowy topcoat. I applied 2 coats of it on my top 2 fingers and 1 coat of it on my bottom two fingers. I really love this and I’m thinking I can do some really fun things with it during the holiday season.

Givers Theme is a vibrant purple creme that is by far my favorite shade in the collection. It is stunning and applies beautifully. It also shines very well without a topcoat.

New Birth is a white creme that has a touch of gray in it. And that’s all.

History of the World is a beautiful gray/blue. I don’t know. I’m having a tough time describing this one. Maybe that’s a good thing.

Release is a very pretty dusty lavender. I’m sure we’ve seen this before, but I don’t know…I like it.

Capacity to see Beyond photographs so so OFF so please forgive me. There wasn’t enough color correcting in the world for that baby. In true life it is bright blue sea blue. It definitely has more green that my camera was not able to pick up.

Boundary of Memory is a glitter chockfull of silver, gold and black.

Friends Forever, Right? is another white creme but unlike the other similar cremes in this collection, this one has a touch of baby pink in it.

Well, I don’t know. I wouldn’t call it a disappointing collection but it did leave me a bit…“Where is the cream filling?”-ish. I do love the purples (Release and Givers Theme) and I think Seeing Red and The Outer Edge are fun the overabundance of creamy whites just threw me off a bit. Maybe after seeing the movie, I’ll be more forgiving? We shall seeee…

What do you think? See any shades that you like?
