Le Charlie

Strange but true fact: in the summer all I do is hang around on beaches in white trousers waiting to be photographed.

This time Chris and I were in France for the weekend with some friends; bowling along the northern coast with the top down, White Cliffs to the left, sleepy rural France to the right, and we paused en route to explore a rocky cove and take some photographs. All along the shore were the blasted remains of concrete German-built forts, destroyed at the end of WWII and left to the sea to finish off. I quickly ditched my pretty sandals in favour of my trusty canvas ‘beach scramblers’ and went bounding off to investigate.

This outfit is hands down my favourite ever featured on this blog. Over the past year I have been abandoning fussy prints and shapes in favour of more minimal designs, and this outfit is the current pinnacle of what I’ve been trying to achieve style-wise. I feel comfortable and relaxed, like a superior, super-powered version of myself; plus these colours look killer with a tan (thank you Devon).

What started with the Scandinavians – Acne, Ann Sofie Back – has continued with Brit designer Charlie May in the form of this icy blue velvet tee from the SS13 collection. I was beyond thrilled when the sale at BENGT brought this piece within my budget – I’ve been yearning for it for months! The fabric is gorgeous, the open back is a little cheeky without being outrageous, and it looks killer with just about everything. Especially white trousers. I would apologise for featuring these again in such quick succession, but they’re so awesome I’m not going to. Mwahahaha.
