Getting Golden with St Tropez
ST TROPEZ SPRAY TAN
Just before my holiday to Mallorca, I was contacted by the girls at St Tropez asking me to pop down to their Skin Finishing Studio in Selfridges Trafford Centre for a spray tan. It was literally a few days before I was due to go on holiday so I obviously jumped at the opportunity to get a bit of a pre-holiday glow!
I'm well known for being really pale and I've only had a spray tan once before and fake-tanned a handful of times. St Tropez are actually my tan of choice (I use the St Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Lotion and St Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Lotion for Face) when I do though, as they're really reliable for an even, bronzed (not orange!) tan. They also lack that overwhelming biscuity smell that some cheaper tans have. So I was confident that I was in safe hands with my spray tanner, Kay, who was super friendly, chatty and really put me at ease.
PRE-SPRAY TAN PREP
Before my spray tan I was given a few preparation instructions to ensure I would achieve the best results:
THE SPRAY TAN
Once I arrived, Kay sat me down in the Skin Finishing Studio that was hidden away in a small room behind the fragrance counter. We discussed my skin, any allergies I had (none, woo!) and what look I wanted to achieve from the spray tan.
St Tropez don't just offer one standard spray tan, they actually offer four: The Kate Moss Tan, The 1 Hour Tan, The Discreet Tan and The Dark Tan. In the end, I opted for a bit of mix to give me a slightly lighter version of The Dark Tan.
I have to say, Kay was amazing. She was really thorough and talked me through what she was doing at every stage. She took extra steps to make sure my hands, feet, knees and elbows would be protected from getting overloaded with fake tan, as they're obviously the more dry areas of the body. From start to finish, the whole process (including consultation) probably only took about 40mins. Ideal if you're popping in after a shop in Selfridges Trafford Centre or London!

- Exfoliate and moisturise the whole body 24 hours before
- Wax or shave 24 hours before or after the spray tan
- Avoid any heavy perfumes or deodorant on the day
- Wear loose, dark clothing after the spray tan

THE RESULT
As you can see from the photo above (full outfit post here), which was taken on the second day of my holiday, I was left with a really even and subtle tan. Even though it sounds a bit silly to say, I really did feel miles more confident on holiday with a bit of colour in my skin. I wore my bikini with pride and didn't feel the need to slather my face in makeup every day.
