7 Wedding Workout Tips You’re Missing

Ah, sweating for the wedding. Has there ever been a more perfect reason to get in shape than right now? When I (Emma here!) am not blogging about weddings or babies, I am workin’ on my fitness ( eight million other things). I workout to get those endorphins pumping and feel stress-free. Fitness is so much more than being a particular weight, or looking a certain way, or fitting into a particular size. Fitness is about being healthy and feeling good about yourself. It’s about being comfortable in your own skin. Being happy. Finding your bliss. And, when it comes to a wedding workout, it means releasing those awesome feel-good endorphins to curb your wedding stress. I read a quote recently on Pinterest that said something along the lines of, “Life’s too short to be at a constant battle with yourself.” It’s true! If you’ve ever wanted to start fresh and get in shape, now’s the time: today we’re sharing a new Emmaline Bride club you’ll want to join along with motivation and seven wedding workout tips you’re missing. Wedding Workout Tips

1. Get inspired.

Pinterest is a treasure-trove of fitness quotes and inspiration. It’s also, however, an amazing resource for the most delicious recipes. So, instead of following all the tempting desserts, follow a particular fitness board that can help you stay focused. Those pumpkin spice cream cheese doughnut holes will be there again someday (but once you get to your goal, you won’t want / need / crave them anymore). Our fitness board will keep you motivated.

2. Make an inspiration board.

Pinterest is fantastic for organizing digital images, but an inspiration board that sits on your desk or in your bedroom is a constant reminder of your goals without having to be connected to the interwebs. When you make an inspiration board that shows your goals and aspirations (for fitness and life, in general), you’re mentally psyching yourself up to reach the goals. In the most inspiring book I’ve ever read, the author talks about reaching goals by making the decision that you ARE going to do it. As Yoda would say, “Do or do not. There is no try.” You’re making the effort that says, yes, I will be fit, I will finally start my journal, I will get rid of clutter in my house. I will get more sleep, drink more water, eat more protein. I will make the most out of every day. You get the idea.

3. Make a list of reasons why.

When it comes to a wedding workout, what is your end goal? Do you want your arms to be super toned so you’ll look awesome in your strapless gown? Want to get rid of that arm jiggle (aka tone your triceps) so you can wave without your arms waving back? (My fitness instructor used to say that all the time and it made me laugh.)

Do you want strong calves, a raised seat, defined abs for your bikini post-wedding, or all of the above? Do you want to feel energetic and start a new life with your spouse-to-be on healthy footing? There’s no wrong reason to work on your fitness, and there’s always something everyone can improve upon.

6. Make a plan that’s convenient for you.

7. Get new workout gear.

Sometimes, it just takes a few great pieces to motivate you.

I like to stroll Target’s fitness section because they always have pretty reasonably priced things (I also love their colorful sports bras, wish I could get one in every color). I wear a pair of kicks that are super bright colorful comfy. Sometimes when you have new apparel you have a fresh sense of motivation.

So, take a stroll through your favorite store and pick out a few running tanks or shorts. Grab that cute new sports bra. Grab that cute new sports bra. Check out the top 20 fitness accessories here.

8. Cross it off.

Shout-out to my sister for this awesome idea: grab a poster board and make a calendar. Hang it up on a wall where you’ll see it all the time. Use a big red permanent marker to make an X on the days you work out. This way, you’ll have a sense of urgency to cross off that particular day (and you’ll get to stay motivated by seeing how much hard work you’ve put in for those crossed off days). Another great way to keep on track is by setting your alarm and working out first thing in the morning. It gets it off of your plate and you’ll feel super-charged for the day.
