Flower Power

As I stated in yesterday's post, the weather here continues to be cold, wet and grey. However, the monotone has been broken up by literal bright spots, making the gloom bearable.
First off, my ranunculus bloomed and they're so beautiful! I planted one white and one red and they both look incredible. If you've ever toyed with the idea of a garden, just try it. My entire setup is in pots, since our "yard" is an urban cement patio, but just a few potted flowers can legitimately make you happier. My goal this summer is to have enough flowers in my garden to make a florist unnecessary.

I must say that I was inspired to plant ranunculus in part by this beautiful floral arrangement book, The Flower Recipe Book. It is seriously gorgeous (and for the record, smells amazing). The photography is amazing and it has so many awesome tips for making unique statement bouquets. Go get it, like immediately. If only used as a coffee table book it's still fabulous.

Not ready for the real thing? The House That Lars Built has tons of paper flower DIY's that look so real it's insane! I'm going to try her narcissus tutorial as soon as the memory of my latest DIY fades. (I tried to paint my kitchen table. She...didn't make it.)
