DIY Simple Pour Soap DIY: Choose Your Own Scent and Shape. Great Gift!

I'm taking my all-natural body product and hippie healing herbalism to the next level, b*tches, I'm enrolled in courses to become a certified Master Herbalist! Of course I intend to teach you what I learn along the way. This simple glycerin soap trick is perfect for the novice soap maker or as a craft to make with children. It's a fast and satisfying way to completely customize the shape, scent, and size of your soap.

This soap is less sudsy than your standard variety. It won't wash away all of your natural moisturizing body oils, making it an ideal face and hand soap for winter. The small travel size is convenient carrying with you in case the public restroom is out of soap or as an alternative to chemical-laden varieties in dispensers. Gift 'em, use 'em, love 'em! Here's how:

DIY Pour and Melt Soap Supplies: 1) Silicone Mold
. I used Gingerbread Men and Stars. 2) Pour and Melt Glycerin Soap in clear
or solid
3) Mica Powder
4) Essential Oils
5) Microwave 6) Sharp knife -- You can find all you need save for the essential oils at Joanne's, don't forget their daily coupons. They can scan it from your smart phone. (50% off one item, it'll save you big time!)

Step 1 Cut a square of soap with a sharp knife measuring about 1.5" x 3" inches, you can do more or less depending on the size of your molds. The soaps will often come in little squares like scented waxes or chocolate bars, if yours are like this break off four to six pieces to melt. Place your pieces in a small microwave safe bowl.

Step 2 Pop your soap in the microwave for no more than 20 seconds at a time. Stir. Add your soap to the microwave again if needed until it is completely liquified with zero chunks of soap.

Step 3 Add your mica powder. A tiny bit goes a long way, I used about 1/4 of a teaspoon or so to completely color my soaps. Feel free to add a little more if desired. Add 5-10 drops of essential oil and stir it all together.

Step 4 Swiftly pour your soap into your mold. If your soap hardened or chunks-up before you can pour it pop it in the microwave for a few seconds (5, 10, or 20 depending on how chunky or hard it is) and stir it again.

Step 5 Wait until your soap is hard to the touch and cool, then push it out of your silicon mold. If you have a deep mold cut shape-cylinder into smaller shapes.

I used orange essential oil. These soaps smell AMAZING. So good I want to devour them. So good I want to suck them straight into my olfactory glands. That good. Make some. Put them by all the sinks in your house. Then make more! They're so satisfying.

Got any Christmas crafts going? Would love to hear any suggestions, too. I'm brainstorming on a line of organic beauty products (toothpaste, soap, lip balm, bubble bath, shaving cream, make-up, the works) to make, hmmm...
