SPIKE HEADBAND DIY

Turn a sweet headband into an edgy on trend Spike Headband DIY with this simple tutorial.

TOOLS & MATERIALS:

  • Headband
  • Ribbon
  • Spikes
  • Studs
  • Hot glue

step 1
Heat up your hot glue gun.

Add a small amount of hot glue to the end of your headband.

Put the end of your ribbon in the hot glue.

Fold your ribbon over the end of your headband and start wrapping.

step 2
Continue wrapping your ribbon around your headband adding small amounts of glue to hold it in place.

When you get to the other end, fold your ribbon over the end and use a small amount of glue to hold the ribbon.

step 3
Use a tape measure and a pen to mark where you want to place your spikes.

I spaced mine 1.5 inches apart, leaving space in between for the studs.

step 4
You can use the Aleene’s Jewelry & Metal Tacky Dots to hold your spikes to your headband or you can use your hot glue or E6000.

NOTE: I thought that these tacky dots would be a good idea for this but I wouldn’t recommend them for this. They do work great for metal on metal but not metal on ribbon, my cat knocked this headband off my dresser and all the spikes fell off. So… I recommend that you use hot glue or E6000 to attach your spikes.

step 5
After you’ve attached your spikes add your small studs in between your spikes using your hot glue to attach them.

You can add as many or as few spikes to your headband as you want. This would also look great with black ribbon and silver spikes.

A spiked headband can be a great hair accessory to add a bit of edge to any hairstyle.
