The Good Lie Movie with Reese Witherspoon #Giveaway
The Good Lie Movie with Reese Witherspoon is a film about the Lost Boys, refugees from Sudan. It is both informative and entertaining. Rated PG-13 because of violent scenes from the war in Sudan which cause the Lost Boys to become orphans, this movie has lessons about love, humility, faith and respect for all ages. It also teaches us about completely different cultures and how they can be brought together.
The Lost Boys flee from the viciousness of the Northern Militia who kill adults and kidnap children. In this movie, a group, including the three children who are the main characters in the film go through hunger, intense fear and the death of some of the children while walking hundreds of miles to reach a refugee camp and safety.
Their mantra is “I want to live, I do not want to die”. And they did, making it to the camp that would be their homes for years. Then they are offered to move to America. This is where the cultural differences come to light.
Reese Witherspoon, who plays Carrie, their job recruiter. When she realizes their utter confusion and feeling lost again, she takes them under her wing to help them learn the ropes and to succeed in America. The four young adults including another refugee and one of the men’s sister are played by Sudanese who actually went through this horrific ordeal. This brings realism to this film.
The Good Lie movie, which I was given for review, is based on a real story and relates struggle from Sudan and their life in the US that turns into a miracle in their chance to live without fear.
It is heartbreaking, a bit comical and a “feel good movie” that also shows the change or heart of a rough job recruiter who finds work without really caring.
