Fall Ad Campaign: JNSQ + Starbucks

It’s been a good week for JNSQ. First being mentioned in the LA Times and now the Starbucks Glamour Mag Fall Campaign I was chosen to be a part of is officially out!

I am practicing my “non smile, smile” here.

A funny story goes along with this shoot. Not only did I have one week notice to prep once they told me I was (randomly!) chosen, I had just moved into a teeny tiny 1st floor apartment across the street from our old place, still on Perry, but not as “light drenched” as our 6th floor digs. The photographer, Jeff, said Starbucks wanted lifestyle shots in my home…..in a major panic, I called my interior design friend Sheena of Sheep Stone to help me “zhoozh” the place up. We rented furnished, which came with the standard IKEA couch. Not a style I would have chosen myself, but had to make the best of the situation at hand. Sheena could only get over to my place three days before the shoot to assess the situation. The kitchen didn’t need much work as I had all of the greatest gadgets from my bridal registry, so we had to focus on the most bare room of them all: the living room. What did we do in only three days to get my house photo shoot ready?

  1. Add bold pillows and a blanket to the drab IKEA couch in a color assortment that was my style. Because I was running out of time and am SUPER picky about pillows, Sheena kindly schlepped some of her own custom made pillows and gifted me a the blanket I was about to buy on West Elm.
  2. Hang window treatments (of which you don’t see in the photos, but they do look amaze. West Elm messengered me the curtains in 4 hours of calling in my order.
  3. A token pharmacy lamp to frame the space and add more light that the room was lacking.
  4. Hang a mirror on a strategic wall to add depth to an otherwise small room.

Bonus! The Moroccan poof was a personal addition that I had magically already ordered on eBay that magically arrived 1 hour before the shoot!

After I had my apartment sorted, I had to sort myself. WHAT TO WEAR?! Honestly, I could have pulled out many great dresses that scream “fashion blogger”, but I just wanted to be “me”and wear something comfortable, flattering, and timeless. Every time I wear this denim on denim look I feel confident and I know the Rag & Bone jeans are super flattering on me and create the illusion of legs for days and a small waist. Who doesn’t love a classic denim on denim look? To pull the look together I wore my A Wang Mules and a pop of pink on the lips – did the hair and makeup myself.

Anyway, check me out on their website here and see how I transition into fall with style!
