Yardley Fragrances Get A New Look (And They're Great Budget Prices)

Yardley London may be a famous purveyor of luxury fragrances and soaps, even providing the Royal household with toiletries for centuries, but their brand has always been steeped in history and nostalgia rather than being relevant to the modern woman. Born in the seventeenth century, there are few brands that compare to Yardley in terms of its rich history or fascinating progress from lavender soap maker to fragrance house. However, it's in 2014 that Yardley sees a massive move towards a modern perfumer that produces affordable scents in deliciously simple bottles. Adding to its expansive fragrance collection with this refreshing 'Jade' scent, Yardley has also re-designed and re-bottled many of its iconic and addictive scents to bring the brand into the 21st Century.

'Jade' is a retro-inspired, fresh and elegant green floral scent that aims to capture the spirit of the 60’s. "Fruity, aromatic green top notes of peach, bergamot and galbanum blend with an airy floral bouquet heart of rose, jasmine, ylang-ylang and orris, delicately wrapped up in base notes of patchouli, sandalwood and moss." It's extremely refreshing and uplifting, whilst being modern enough to appeal to even the youngest of noses. The bottle is simple and elegant, reflecting a new direction for the traditional brand - and hopefully opening them to a whole new portfolio of customers.

Yardley's 'Daisy' fragrance was originally launched in celebration of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's engagement, providing a modern take on florals that became one of my favourite 'every day' scents back in 2011. Updated with a bottle more becoming of a great scent, 'Daisy' captures the sunny Spring days that lay ahead: "An elegant, dewy fresh green floral with a burst of energetic top notes of fresh green leaves and apple, with a combination of hyacinth and white rose at its heart and warm base notes of sandalwood and musk."

Although Yardley have previously been hidden away on the shelves of Boots next to So and Impulse, I'm hoping that with this new look and a great portfolio of scents they really become a force to be reckoned with. If you're after an affordable scent to take you through the warmer months and keep you feeling uplifted, then definitely have a sniff of the subtle scents from Yardley.

Jade is available from Yardley stores and online, as well as via selected Boots stores, priced £19.99 for 50ml. Daisy is priced £14.99 for 50ml.
