Rainbow Honey Sweet Talk Swatches & Review

Your eyes are like pools of mystery, waiting to be discovered like the beating of words against the drums of emotion.

Yeah, that’s right. I like being wooed in the most ridiculous way. None of that “Did you hurt yourself when you fell from heaven?” crap.

The weirder? The better!

In fact, a pet name I had for a then-boyfriend was “Sugar Possum”! Yeah, that kind of weird interests me. (His pet name for me was “Armadillo Pillow”, in case you were wondering.)

And Rainbow Honey Sweet Talk is an indie polish that strays enough from the ordinary to perk up my rabbit ears to make me take note!

It’s a really neat milky nail polish with fun glitter thrown in. If cookies and cream went to a snack party, I imagine this is how it would dress up. Yes, things like that happen in my mind. (Oh, if only I told you everything that goes on in this ‘mush upstairs’, and you’d be running for the hills! Hehe!)

Rainbow Honey Sweet Talk Review

Colour

The base of Sweet Talk by Rainbow Honey is a milky white that looks very much like school glue. But it isn’t too opaque that it completely covers up the beautiful glitter that’s sprinkled throughout. Some parts do get covered, but I like how that happens sometimes – it makes it really look like the glitter is floating in milk.

Maybe I was hungry when I wore it, but I couldn’t help but think of ice cream with sprinkles. Is it just me? If so, that’s okay, too.

Finish

The finish is like a slightly watered down creme because there’s a bit of a translucence to it. Then, you have the chunky glitter mixed in for good measure.

There’s also really neat pinkish shimmer running throughout that you don’t notice at first until you take a closer look. Really neat!

The result is a gritty texture, but if you wear a thick top coat, you can smooth things out pretty well. However, if you’re the type of person who gets annoyed even with a little texture, this won’t be right for you.

Application & Formula

The consistency of Sweet Talk by Rainbow Honey was on the thick side, but it wasn’t so much so that it was unusable or that it needed to be thinned. However, I can see that over time, this baby is going to need a little help with some thinner to keep the consistency flowing properly.

I didn’t have to use any dabbing motions or do anything special to get this polish to apply evenly. I was surprised because a lot of times when there’s chunky glitter, I find that I have to fill in bald areas with dabbing motions. This one covered nicely with 2 medium coats.

Pros

  • Interesting mix of milky white with colourful chunky glitter
  • Applies evenly

Cons

  • Thick consistency will need to be thinned later for maintenance

Final Verdict: 8.5/10

I really like milky nail polishes like Sweet Talk because it brings something fun and nostalgic to the mix. (I say nostalgic because the milkiness reminds me of the colour of marshmallows, and I used to have a teddy bear that I named “Marshmallow” when I was in grade 1 or 2.)

Do you like nail polishes with milky finishes? What’s your favourite indie nail-polish brand? What is the pet name you and your Significant Other have for each other?
