CND Vinylux Fall 2014 Modern Folklore

A long time ago, back in June, I uploaded an

event vlog about attending a CND Vinylux nail polish event in Montreal. Well, after what seems like so many manicure posts, I’ve finally gotten around to trying every colour they sent me home with.

The collection is beautiful, even more so for the formula than the colour selection, but I will get into that as we go through the shades below.

CND Vinylux Fall 2014 Modern Folklore Collection

CND Vinylux Fall 2014 Modern Folklore Collection Swatches & Review

Indigo Frock – CND Vinylux Fall 2014 Modern Folklore Collection

Indigo Frock is a creme finish polish that straddles the line of charcoal grey and indigo blue. It wears nicely on it’s own or with a glitter top coat when you feel like being bedazzled. Although this nail polish colour isn’t very unique, I really enjoy my off grey shades!

Crimson Sash – CND Vinylux Fall 2014 Modern Folklore Collection

Crimson Sash is a wine red shimmer. This is basically your classic Christmas or inter holiday season polish. I was impressed with how easy the application was and the shade’s opacity and I do like the colour. However, it is simply not unique.

Locket Love – CND Vinylux Fall 2014 Modern Folklore Collection

Locket Love is one of the show stoppers in this collection. It is a gold foil finish nail polish that leans silver in some lights. This is one of two of my favourite shades in the Modern Folklore collection. I have nothing like this in other brands. The only tricky thing is that you need a few coats, otherwise the brush strokes show a bit.

Fine Vermillion – CND Vinylux Fall 2014 Modern Folklore Collection

Fine Vermillion is my other favourite. It is an orange shimmer. An orange like this really livens up a dreary fall outfit and makes your nails pop. It is also a dream to apply.

Plum Paisley – CND Vinylux Fall 2014 Modern Folklore Collection

Plum Paisley is a dark purple with subtle blue and purple shimmers. The shimmer is subtle, but it is quite clear on the nails that this is not a cream finish. It was easy to apply and only required 2-3 coats.

Rose Brocade – CND Vinylux Fall 2014 Modern Folklore Collection

Rose Borcade is a red cream with pink undertones as it’s name would suggest. If you are looking for a red cream staple for fall and winter, this would be a good one to consider. The formula applied smoothly and all you need are 2-3 coats for prefect coverage.

Side note: my apologies for the inconsistency in lighting and nail length. Two of the swatches were taken after my vacation, where my nails collapse from being overly soaked on vacation (not complaints here). Furthermore, Locket Love was the first nail polish I tried in this collection when I attended the CND Vinylux event.

What do you think of the shades? What’s your favourite nail polish shade for fall?

This post contains PR sample(s) sent for editorial consideration.
