Earlier this month, I had the pleasure at attending the Clarins Fragrance Event at the Ritz Carlton in Montreal. With the coming of the holiday season, the event showcased various holiday gift sets from brands such as Thierry Mugler, Burberry, Nuxe, Repetto, Lanvin, Azzaro, Boucheron to name a few.

Fragrances, though they make lovely gifts, can be difficult to choose for someone because they are so personal and intimate.

Here’s a tip for picking out the perfect fragrance for a loved on: pick a fragrance based on what they like and not solely what you find appealing. Find out what they are wearing now and see if the fragrance you want to gift to them has similar top or base notes.

Another valuable tip I learned at the event is to opt for a cream rather than a perfume in the case that you are not sure what fragrance to get for someone. A perfume body lotion or cream is just as luxurious, but less obtrusive in nature.

To achieve the campaign look from the NARS Holiday 2014 Collection, press Opal Coast Hardwired Eye Shadow over the eyelids, blending up toward the browbones for an iridescent white base. Apply Interstellar Eye Paint to the inner corners of the eyes using the a blending brush. Dab the excess eye paint along the lower lash lines. Define the upper lash lines with Via Vineto Larger Than Life Eyeliner. Finish the eyes with two coats of Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara.

Line and fill the lips with Nihiwatu Velvet Lip Liner for a rich base. Outline and coat lips with Deadly Catch Hardwired Lipstick, blend using a precision lip brush.
