Bring It Home :: A Creative Mood

“Art is inspirational. It sets a creative mood and tone that pushes our boundaries and outlook on life, like art is supposed to” says Leanne Citrone of her art-filled Los Angeles home. And I wholeheartedly agree. I loved seeing how Citrone and her husband incorporated their impressive modern art collection into their house in the last Domino magazine, and it got me thinking about the role art plays in my own life. We may not all have works by Damien Hirst, Roy Lichtenstein, Chuck Close and Massimo Vatali to display. Maybe it’s finger painting and your own photography… it’s all instrumental in setting your creative mood. Do you use art to set the tone in your home?

Flower print — I would love to have fresh flowers in my home year round, but this is the next best option. The combination of floral photography and insect sketches makes for an intriguing mix.

Basket — Place a basket on your coffee table to corral remotes and the clutter that tends to gather throughout the day. Snatch this one up while it’s on sale!

Skateboard — I covet the Celine slip on sneakers Leanne is wearing in the inspiration photo. This plaid skateboard is a fun and unexpected spin on the skater shoes and can be hung as art.

Side table — If you’re working with a small space, choose pieces that have dual functions, like this sturdy side table which also has a sculptural aspect to it.

Throw — Draped over a chair or sofa, a soft throw can soften the lines of more modern furniture pieces.

Chair — Something about the summer time makes light tan leathers irresistible to me – both in furniture and in fashion (hello summer sandal collection).

Marble light — Lamps and accent lighting can make an apartment feel more like a home. This small sculptural lamp can add warmth to an unlit nook or shelf.
