Taking Care of Myself in 2014

While driving out of town yesterday to drop Brandon's Dad off at his car, I came across this blog post. Brandon was driving and having a conversation in the front seat with his Dad, so I didn't interrupt him to tell him about my resolution plans for 2014. I made a mental list of things I wanted to improve on and after reading that post, I was even more inclined to take better care of myself first and actually stay on top of my New Year's resolutions!
In that past, by the time February comes around I lose all sight and forget resolutions even exist! And poof, they're gone just like that. I want 2014 to different. I want 2014 to be the year of change for myself and my husband. I know that if I take care of myself first I'll be better prepared to take care of him.
I hate that I come home, and I'm worn out and exhausted all all I want to do is sit on the couch and do nothing. Not even cook a decent dinner for us. That's got to change. Starting now, well actually last night. I cooked a really simple, and somewhat healthy meal for us, bacon-wrapped-chicken breasts and steamed vegetables. Bacon really does make everything taste better!
Back to where I was… I'm going to hold myself accountable to the changes I'm trying to make over here. I'm learning that NOT taking care of myself is really the most selfish thing I can do. I pray that I take care of myself first, so I can take better care of the people around me. Kind of like the whole idea of putting your oxygen mask on first. And I pray that I don't get bogged down with worry and guilt for wanting to take care of myself.

What are some of your New Year's resolutions? Spill.
