Styled by Sam: Change it Up

Happy Monday! My guest contributor, Samantha, writes on one of her favorite new trends. In the meantime, you can catch me staying up late studying (for the SATs- can you believe it?) or meeting with my website designer to discuss what is next for A Life in the Fashion Lane. I hope you're as excited as I am.
It’s time to whip that hair back and forth because a new season always means new hair.
We saw a number of hairstyles/cuts hit the Spring 2015 runways this past fashion week and some made a bigger statement than the clothing. If you think about it, your hair is something you wear everyday therefore it deserves quite a bit more attention than your wardrobe. Your hair is a way people identify you (i.e. “You know, that girl with the pink hair” or “The boy with the dreadlocks who lives down the hall? Yeah, I know who that is.”) and should reflect your personality the best way possible. What inspired me to write this post was a change I will soon be making to my very own head – that’s right, I’ve made a hair appointment for this Friday and plan to make some drastic changes. I’ve been notorious for my mermaid-long locks for a little too long and decided that children with cancer (hello Locks of Love!) will appreciate this mop on my head more than I do. I hope my hairdresser’s got his shears sharpened because he’s got his work cut out for him – pun intended. But I digress.
We saw long, flowy, and wavy at Emilio Pucci. This look screams, “I LOVE THE BEACH.” And seriously, who doesn’t LOVE THE BEACH???

Then there were Barbies at Moschino. These bleached blonde wigs were made complete with a ton of teasing and long retro waves. It’s diva fabulousness, and a diva look is never complete without a pair of heart shaped sunglasses.

Things got real serious and sophisticated over at Stella McCartney. Models wore their hair tightly sleeked back, parted to the side, and tucked behind their ears. Perfect for the girl who takes their life and career very, VERY seriously.

This also happened at Commes des Garcons. Looks to me like Marie Antoinette took drugs and stuck her finger in an outlet. That is all. Fashion is an expression of your personality, after all...

I must admit, I’m a little nervous to finally bid my comfort blanket aka hair farewell, but now is as good a time as ever. So if you’re thinking of changing things up hair-wise or even playing with a different style, this is me telling you that you totally should!
