LONDON TRAVEL DIARY

I’ve been to London quite a bit. It’s a city I always liked but never completely fell in love with like Paris or New York. Spread out, I never felt like I could just walk and discover like I like to do in other cities. This time was different though, I finally felt like on this trip I had a sense of direction – to Mariell and Jostein’s. I was happy to be going back to London but more excited to see my friends than anything. M J have often come to Paris to visit and stay with me, but I have long dreamed of visiting them somewhere between Norway and London and seeing what their day-to-day life was like. It was heaven. I feel at home with them, even when I’m sleeping on an air mattress. There are always home cooked meals, lots of cups of tea, and hugs to make me feel warm and fuzzy. They always have a good movie or a good song to play and we can talk for hours about anything and everything, wether it’s been a year or a few months since we last saw each other. Since we did last see each other, something amazing happened: they published their first novel that they co-wrote together. They also showed me lots to love in East London, as it was the first time I really visited this part of town. After vintage shopping on Brick Lane, the market and more at London Fields, and even finding cute places to eat in New Cross, I’m dreaming of living in East London a year or two of my life. The night before I left we went outside and to light some sparklers I brought along just because. M J love to stop and do silly magic things like that with me for no reason. It’s one of the things that makes them great friends. Here is my little London Travel Diary through a series of my favorite snaps from my long weekend with them there.

ON THE EUROSTAR

MARIELL AND JOSTEIN’S

SHOREDITCH

We had coffee and cakes at the Vintage Emporium. It was delicious, and the vintage shopping on the lower level is fabulous.

LONDON FIELDS

I was so happy to try Meringue Girls! My sister gave me their cookbook for Christmas and I’ve been dreaming about their desserts ever since.

A strawberry meringue.

Mariell and Jostein took me to Violet, one of my favorite meals during my visit.

Mariell wrote some sweet little posts here and here and here too that you might enjoy. She also has an amazing guide to London that is worth purchasing wether you are living in London or just visiting and want to know all the dreamiest places to visit, shop, and eat. More here soon, until then see you on instagram, facebook, twitter, and pinterest.
