Shelf Exams

Now is the time where I write a helpful post about shelf exams. Congratulations MS2’s, you are now third years! (Or close to it!) YOU’VE MADE IT TO CLINICAL YEARS! (WOO!)

I have taken all of the NBME shelf exams for the year, except for Neuro, we don’t have a core neuro rotation. Some of these pearls were passed down, some of these things I figured out on my own. Take my advice if you will, I will assure you that all of my shelf exam scores have been > 90%. (Side note: I was also a fairly good student in my M1/M2 years, and I loved path.) ((SIde side note: DO NOT STRESS OUT ABOUT THESE THINGS. Shelf exams are awesome, and a million times better than basic science exams.)

First things first, buy a year’s subscription to UWORLD step 2. I used it every rotation, almost every day. Study EVERYDAY. Read something. Anything. But don’t stress yourself out. You’ve done enough of that for step 1.
