Whole Wheat Pizza Dough

An easy recipe for whole wheat pizza dough. A healthier alternative with the same great results.

I realized something weird and kind of sad today. But sad in a mostly pathetic way, not in the boo-hoo way. I’m apparently reliving the early to mid 2000′s that I never had… if that even makes sense. You see, I got sucked into Alias in a major way. Now I’m hooked on Veronica Mars and let’s not forget Friday Night Lights. At least with FNL, I can say it’s still a fairly recent show even though I totally didn’t watch a second of it until this year. Crazy how that works. You can miss an entire series and then fall hopelessly in love with it and not want to watch another new show until you’re all caught up or have watched it all.

Can we please discuss how anxious I am for Scandal to return? What is with this ridiculous extended hiatus? Don’t they make enough money to keep shows going without these multi-month breaks? Raise your hand if you’re annoyed too. I kept thinking it was coming back next week, but nope… not until some absurd date in February, right?

I was also under the impression when I heard 24 was coming back for another short season, that it would at the very least start up in January. Nope. Another major letdown… not until May. I’m just gonna go back and binge watch Veronica Mars and forget about the rest of that.

So, I’ve always been tempted to try baking with whole wheat flour but was scared to because I heard alterations and adaptions needed to be made. Gina mentioned to me that she’s had success using the white whole wheat with zero alterations. Bingo! Just what I needed to ease myself into it.

This was my first recipe using it and have to say, I totally loved it. The overall results were just as tasty as the all purpose counterpart. The dough rose beautifully, without issue.

If you’re looking to make your pizza nights a little bit healthier, be sure to try this easy whole wheat pizza dough recipe. It’s a breeze to make and will have you ditching the takeout number in a heartbeat!

I’ve heard many times that people just don’t have time to make homemade dough. It takes 5-10 minutes to make and only a few of those are active minutes. Let this rise, covered on the counter while you’re at work or out doing errands! You can even leave it covered in the fridge overnight or freeze for later! Find 10 minutes and whip up this whole wheat pizza dough.
