2-Month-Old Asher

Dearest Asher, I want to gobble up your chubby little cheeks and squeeze your chunky thighs all day long. You have the cutest lips and you often purse them into the most darling expressions. In the mornings, you give me the best smiles; you smile with your whole face. You like when I say "Hello!" over and over again in an obnoxiously high voice. You will look around the room, spot your Daddy, and your face will light up so bright. You study your big brother Adam with such perplexity, and while I think you always have the fear of being squished in the back of your mind, I know that you love him. You have gained 5 pounds and grown 4 inches in 2 months. I seriously cannot get over how big you've gotten! You sure aren't a fragile little newborn anymore--and I think you're pretty happy about that. You didn't exactly love being a newborn, but around 8 weeks old, you turned a corner. You now cry less and have longer periods of contentment throughout the day. Tummy time still isn't your favorite, but you don't hate it anymore. You are very strong, Asher; you hold your head up like a pro and you roll over from your tummy to back quite often and easily. As evident by your weight gain, you are one fantastic nursling. You eat about 8-10 days a day, and even though you still wake up quite a bit throughout the night, I honestly don't mind too much because you're such a sweet snuggle bug. If you had it your way, in fact, you'd snuggle all day--which you practically do since I wear you in the baby wrap so often. Gosh, if only I could carry you in that wrap while driving; you whole-heartedly despise the car-seat. It makes it difficult to go places when I know you'll cry so hard in the car, but we do try to get out and about here and there. You've done pretty well at library story-times, Target trips, and church. Words I would use to describe you right now would be: sweet, sensitive, inquisitive, pensive, and loving.
And you are loved, so undeniably and fervently loved.
You make my heart grow more and more every day.
I love you, Asher. Love always, your mother
