Sally Hansen Launches Miracle Gel 14-Day Wear Light-Free Gel Polish

Wouldn’t it be a miracle if there was a product out there that gave you everything you loved about gel manicures and got rid of all the annoying parts you don’t like? Long-lasting shine, durability and protection without the whole soaking-in-acetone-to-remove-it part (come on, we all hate that part)? Well, your dreams are about to become reality soon when Sally Hansen launches their new Miracle Gel line.

The collection contains 47 new shades, and even though the bottle resembles the oh-so-popular Salon Complete Manicure (one of my favorite nail polish formulas, by the way), the formula is much different. The two-step system includes a color and top coat- that’s it. The cherry on top? No LED or UV lamps are required and it removes easily with regular nail polish remover (even non-acetone formulas work well)!

The miraculous formula uses patented technology to prolong the integrity of the gel lacquer film for durable, shiny nails. The color coat and top coat contain ingredients that create a chemical reaction to cure without LED/UV lamps- all it needs is natural light! Side note: this is how you can tell if a “gel top coat” is a fake; it should cure in natural light, so if it’s in a clear bottle, there’s nothing “gel-like” about it.

I’ve been wearing Miracle Gel for about two months now, and even though I haven’t been able to make it to the 14-day mark, my first one-week progress update was beyond impressive (this girl can’t usually go more than 2-3 days without chipping).

The formula is easy to apply and I absolutely love the extra-wide brush applicator. The range of shades is fantastic (my favorites are Pink Up, All Chalked Up and Sugar Fix) and it actually stays shiny the entire time. It also isn’t thick on the nails like some gel polishes can be; instead it looks like you always have a freshly-lacquered manicure straight from the salon.

The downside? You still have to wait for the polish to dry like a regular formula. However, it’s a tradeoff to not have to endure the annoying acetone-soaking and scraping removal process. Totally worth it in my opinion.

So I’m sure you’re wondering, “how is it compare to CND Vinylux?” Well, I wondered the exact same thing and put the two to the test. Vinylux, which claims to last 7 days, only made it to the 4-5 day mark on me. Miracle Gel makes a stronger claim (“up to” 14 days), and lasted 8. While the application and concept is similar, Miracle Gel performed better for me.

At a price tag of $10.95 CAD each and available everywhere in August 2014, the new formula is so affordable, effective and convenient- it’s truly a miracle.

I’ve swatched my top ten favorite shades that I can’t get enough of, but if you want to see more then I recommend heading over to BeautyGeeks where you can find all 47 shades swatched. Enjoy!
